Ancient Cream Formulation

With magical beautification and healing properties, an anti-aging formulation hidden in the pages of ancient Indian literature

In the ancient literature of India lies hidden formulations for health, beauty and healing. These secrets have been passed on through centuries and are practised as part of our Indian knowledge sytems. One such practice of yore is the creation of an anti-aging formulation by washing ghee or clarified butter and is known as Shata Dhauta Ghrita. This translates to “Hundred washes of Ghee”.

This is the only known formulation which is light and wholesome enough to penetrate to the deepest layers of the skin, providing maximum nourishment to the skin. Skin nourished, radiant, hydrated and glowing.

The formulation is prepared by washing ghee with water in a large bowl for a 100 times. Take a bowl, place some high quality pure ghee. Pour water into the bowl and wash the ghee for 30 secs. Then pour the water out. Pour some more water and wash for 30 secs again and pour out the water. Repeat this process for a 100 times.

There are the number of videos online that show the process of making this formulation. Here is one of them:

In this process, when the water is added to the ghee, an emulsion like mix of lipids can be seen. The water particles pressurize the fat particles producing the creamy emulsion. Free fatty acids and glycerols are generated and this process is called hydrolysis.

Some place the ghee in a copper vessel and use a small copper bowl to rub the water into the ghee. They believe that the copper utensil makes it easier to break down the fatty molecules as well as imparts a natural anti-inflammatory effect to the moisturizer.

In case you don't want to prepare it yourself and wish to purchase then my favourite brand Forest Essentials makes a lovely formulation. (Click on the link)
